Gideon Finals Results

As the sun set on the closure of the Gideon Sevens. The smiles of the players and the organisers were visible as they were on their way home.The tournament was a great success and the crowd was entertained with the dazzling performance of the very talented players. It has been a wonderful day out for families, friends and rugby fanatics.

The spectators applaud at the teams that have victoriously scooped the prizes. The teams are as follows:

Veiyasana Babas 21 - Mala Young Boys 12

Vatukaloko 21 - Veisari Tornadoes 7

Davetalevu 15 - Army Lautoka 14

Vio 2 - Won By Default

The victorious Veiyasana Babas have shocked everyone by scooping the cup. They played exceptionally well to thump the other reknown teams.

The assorted teams that came to participate in the Gideon Sevens tournament were amazed at the level of competition that they faced.The spectators were impressed and satisfied with the tournament. It was money well spent. The Men's Fellowship motto for the game itself was "You Pay Less To See The Best".That was a true interpretation of the package of the Gideon Sevens. Or as we say it back home "Mate Nai Lavo".Looking forward to another Gideon Sevens Tournament that will be held next year.

As the day is coming to an end teams that never made it to the finals are slowly leaving the premises of Churchill Park.The semi finals are now over and these are the outcomes of the games:

THE QUARTERS BEGINS

Quarter final matches have begun and the ground is once again filled with anxious players craving for victory. Screaming fans applaud as Serevi's team the City Eagles make their way to the ground to challenge the Veiyasana Babas. The sun is still high up in the sky and even though the heat is rising it's very obvious that there is nothing that will keep the teams from playing their beloved sport. The Quarter Final results for the main games are as follows:

As the Semi- finals approach the tension between the teams rises as they are eager to reach the finals. The crowd awaits as the draws are being finalised for the semis.


RUGBY UPDATES

The blazing sun bares down on the players as the tournament continues. The sweat of the players and officials as they try to make this day a success. The games are underway and many teams have been brought down by there tough opponents.

The teams that are participating are from all over Fiji but there is a team from The Lautoka Fulgospel Tabernacle Church which is the Tabernacle Warriors. They comprise of the Saru camp boys who are compassionate about the sevens game.They have been training at the Saru grounds and we are fortunate to have a team representing the church. This shows the level of support the mens fellowship has in organising this tournament.A team that is also showing outstanding play is the City Eagles which is Waisale Serevi's team. The team has been trained and hand picked by the famous Maestro Serevi.Spectators are thrilled to have a chance to see the talented and reknown Waisale Serevi.The games are getting stronger and the competition is getting tougher.

There is a fifteen minutes break before the quarter finals.The barbecue stands are cued up and the bean sellers are making there rounds and the teams are preparing themselves for the next game. Water boys and the team managers and coaches are along the sidelines inciting there players to play well..The atmosphere is very competitive and no one can comprehend the level of outstanding playing that these teams are showing.
